Sam Collins
Bennett is an excellent instructor, capable of connecting with students and making them comfortable and excited to learn about the intersection of design and computer programming. In class, Bennett was sure to ask if anyone needed help, or where they might feel confused. He presented challenges and resources that developed our critical thinking skills and created a solid foundation for upcoming projects. When asked for feedback, he was prompt and clear about his expectations and ways to improve, as well as suggestions and sources of inspiration to push our designs even further. Bennett demonstrates a clear passion for what he does, and effectively shares that passion with those around him to create a positive atmosphere centered on growth and collaboration. Bennett's positivity and curiosity is an inspiration, and I am thankful to have been one of his students. During student presentations that centered around specific areas of design, he asked thoughtful, engaging questions about the topics that would push us to think a little deeper or from new points of view about the topics. He made sure to give his full attention to students who presented or otherwise spoke and participated in class. His affable personality and open-minded approach to being a professor made all the difference in my comfort and success in this course.

I remember working with Bennett when I was his high school band director. Even then I knew he was destined for greatness, or at least meh-ness. This despite his having a strangely flightworthy trombone slide that ended up in the flute section on several occasions. Although I haven’t had the pleasure of Bennett’s company in the working world, I do know he was recently nominated for most-improved by his colleagues in the category of personal hygiene. He did not win. Bennett has studied in some of the best design environments in the world and his work shows it. From his Picasso-esque "Waving Man" to his whimsical "Brady the Embarrassment Doll" to his vast body of design projects, Bennett embodies creativity in everything he does. Well, almost everything. For Mother’s Day, he bought a card at CVS. But, yeah, other than that, he’s definitely an innovative sumbitch. Anyone would be lucky to have Bennett on their team. I mean not if the team is the Golden State Warriors or anything, but if you need a pretty picture or a cool looking thingamajig, ring him up. He’s the man.
