This role has required a close working relationship with Customer engineering and programme teams (Jaguar Land Rover Ltd) and tier 1 (Lear) engineering teams, as well as internal Product Engineering, Quality and Sample production departments, to develop and integrate solutions for automotive seating cooling/heating systems. For this role, I was based at the customer site, providing on-the-ground support, and acting as a liaison to JLR for the wider Gentherm team. Programmes worked on include MLA High, MLA Mid and SVO vehicles. Most notably:- Reviewing designs and integration of products into the customer seating systems: - CAD (CATIA) analysis and development for modifications, - 2D drawing reviews, modifications, and signoffs. - I identified a lack of traceability of CAD data going into and out of Gentherm, which I rectified by developing a new tracking and recording system, involving the Gentherm and JLR CAD engineers. - Additionally, I implemented CAD checks on both ends, prior to receiving/sending data, as there were many design loops & different data sets being utilised, to ensure all parts were aligned correctly, with all data required; thus, reducing the number of loops.- After completing 1 build, I reviewed and streamlined the build plan & BOM analysis process and along with the part pedigree & ordering system to reduce the lead time from 1-2 weeks down to 1-2 days.- Contributing to slow builds and build reviews at Lear, providing direct and immediate support to both OEM and Tier 1, as well as feeding real-time information back to Gentherm.- Lead Project Engineer for the 2 additional JLR SVO programmes, L460 SVA and L461 SVR. These both required developing new designs with the customer and Lear and find solutions to benefit the end user as well as JLR.

Based in the Customer Business Unit, I workED closely with the customer, Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. (JLR), on developing and implementing engineering solutions on current production programmes.Alongside development of solutions, I managed the JLR's Bespoke programme internally, dealing with both customer and supplier issues, to deliver the custom orders.- Root cause analysis was a key tool used to gain an understanding of the issues, along with 8Ds, which progressed into containment and permanent engineering solutions and validation.- Most notably, I led a major model year change to the L560 door panel, which involved dealing with many different stakeholders, providing solutions and a forum for discussion to progress these issues. This allowed me to venture into the programme management side, dealing with the plant, the customer, and suppliers.- One of the projects for an internal supplier required detailed planning and execution, and when the progress was slow, I visited the tool makers, in France, to review the issues in person with their engineering and maintenance team. - During the first month, I was placed as Lead Engineer for the Bespoke projects (as part of JLR SVO). Throughout this role, I worked with JLR and internal suppliers to improve the ordering system, reduce lead times, and meet the strict delivered deadlines. This project had many challenges, but JLR were impressed with the progress that we had made.

      • Aug 2015 - Aug 2016

During the placement, based in a Customer Business Unit, I worked closely with the customer, Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. (JLR), dealing predominantly with Warranty Quality issues. This involved working closely with internal colleagues from different departments including Plant Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering, along with Quality engineers from JLR.Experience gained:• Communication in a culturally diverse business environment. Two periods which greatly assisted this were working in the R&D Centre in Valencia for a week and also during the shop floor experience. It was a great insight into all the different cultures that come together within Faurecia.• Quantitative & Qualitative Statistical Analysis and data presentation• Hands-on, physical analysis of parts and process to discover issues which have arisen. • Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint particularly). I now use Microsoft office in a far greater capacity than previously and I am able to assist/teach others with this gained knowledge.• Quality Tools – including FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma and QRCI (Quick Response, Continuous Improvement)
