The Close Up Foundation is a multi-partisan organization that, with the use of specialized curriculum to incorporate history and politics, used to help students become change makers in their communities. I was able to incorporate my degrees and public speaking skills to convey sometimes complex ideas to students like the intricacies of being a participatory citizen and advocating while working with or against the government. I worked with English learning immigrant students through grant funded programs helping them become better prepared for citizenship test. In doing so, my skills in patience and active listening were showcased as I was able manage a small group of 60 students having 5 different first language and variety of different english learning levels while working in a team that helped oversee over 500 students.
