I served as the Chief of Party for the REETE (the French acronym for "Reducing the Exploitation of Child Labor through Education") that was a joint project of Save the Children/UK and the Solidarity Center/AFL-CIO from 2007 to 2010. Even though Michael joined the project almost midway through the three-year project he quickly mastered the details and challenges. His analytical approach, attention to detail and communication skills contributed directly to the project's successes. He assembled and directed a quality team for the implementation of the project that exceeded project targets (children removed from working in mines to participating in one of three educational options: elementary school, accelerated learning or vocational training) by 13%. Michael supplied quality and timely data and reports as required by the funder (U.S. Dept of Labor). He contributed positively to the REETE quarterly meetings of key staff that led to an effective exchange of best practices that improved performance at all three operational sites. Michael proved to be a valuable team member that introduced creative solutions to a challenging project. I highly recommend Michael for a project management position.
