• Research and development: Implementing novel solutions in cooperation with the industry in the area of smart grids.Projects : Voltage and Frequency Measurement Plug and Mobile App A metering system was developed that uses the home-outlets as measuring points. A prototype plug adapter has been designed. It measures the voltage and frequency, sends the data to a smartphone which after some preprocessing submits it to a central server for further evaluation. In the case of energy production forecasts for hydroelectric power plants,a neural network was developed and trained by having as inputs historical and statistical data as well as weather forecasts for rainfall, snowfall, humidity and temperature with the help of weather forecasting company.SmartLVGridsTo assess the mutual influences between the electrical power grid on the one hand and the communication system from Smartmeters on the other hand, a co-simulation architecture was developed. Also the development of the methodology in which the components of communication and power simulation are coupled. For the communication simulation, real data from Siemens smartmeters were used• Project management. Define requirements, analyse and divide roles, supervise implementation, redact reports and deliverables, write and present publications on the topic.• Publication of scientific papers on the topic of smart grids.• Supervising and guidance of several students for the writing of their bachelor or masterthesis.
