Lauren's strong written and verbal communication skills have been a great asset in managing and developing content for the Academy's online properties. As an Editorial Intern at Tails, Inc., I knew next to nothing about editing or journalistic writing. Lauren took me under her wing and showed me the ways of the media writing and editing world but without being overbearing and suffocating. She did her job treating the rest of the editorial staff as equals making sure everything was done in a timely and orderly fashion. She allowed independence without causing chaos. Under Lauren's direction, I wrote national and local news as well as updating the magazine's blog, tasks I never thought I'd get assigned as somebody so new to the field. My internship experience was far more fulfilling because of her trust in me and my skills than I had imagined it could be. Lauren is an altogether optimal editor and teacher.
