Bio

My husband and I signed up for Karen's Welcome Baby Childbirth Class at Cradle Family in Northampton. As first-time parents, we were already nervous. Karen presented a great deal of information in a confident and empowering manner. She created an open, non-judgmental space and allowed my husband and I to be ourselves. We were able to create the private birth that we wanted without stress or fear. We also felt extremely aware of our choices as parents and the practices at our birth center. After our daughter was born, we both agreed that working with Karen was extremely beneficial through the whole process, and felt relieved that we had proper education. Karen also made herself available to us as a postpartum doula. We did not end up using her services in this area, but just knowing that she was willing to support us was a great feeling. I will absolutely consider working with Karen for our 2nd child if we decide to use a doula for support.

Compassionate, creative, tirelessly patient, and profoundly knowledgeable, Karen was instrumental in helping my partner and I achieve the birth we wanted. We hired her both for private childbirth ed classes and for labor doula services and were impressed by how she wove current pregnancy, labor, and delivery research with her own experiences working with families in myriad birth settings and situations. Ultimately, hiring Karen to be our doula made me feel more empowered and in control at my birth than if we had tried to do it on our own, and she helped our family be more confident in our choices. I cannot recommend her highly enough and am glad to talk with other potential clients about how else she specifically positively shaped our experience.
