- Assisted in development of a laser system and tooling to peen the interior of a nuclear reactor, a first of a kind operation where LSPT exceeded customer expectations dramatically. - Developed optic protection equipment for laser peening processing cell. - Designed robot end of arm tooling to repeatably position and hold customer parts for processing. - Specified and installed water chillers for cooling of high-power lasers and supporting equipment. - Introduced LSPT to in-house SLA 3D printing, which allowed rapid design iteration on parts with integral air and water passages. This has saved the company many thousands of dollars and contributed to the success of some of our most challenging projects. - Performed reach study and loading calculations on a robot, tool, and optical articulating arm system. - Collaborated with optical, electrical, and controls engineers to design beam delivery systems that routed, conditioned, monitored and controlled the laser beam to meet processing conditions. - Aided in the automation of engineering processes, including electrical assembly BOM generation. - Performed static, modal, and harmonic analyses for concept evaluation and design validation.
