My partner and I also planned lesson presentations each week for two different class sections of 25 freshmen we were assigned. Aside from lesson planning, my partner and I would collaborate with other First Year Experience student leaders to plan events for all our freshmen for social interactions. During class time, both my partner and I would facilitate discussions with students regarding the lesson of the day and answer any questions they had regarding school. Outside class and throughout the semester, I provided one-on-one interactions with the freshmen to follow-up on how they are navigating and processing college. As a result from these interactions, it allowed freshmen to share their opinions and be vulnerable about anything. Other duties I was responsible for aside from the social and teaching aspect, was to take attendance during class time and provide one-on-one progress reports on students' status in the class. Once a week, the entire staff would meet with our boss to discuss what worked and didn't worked when teaching the lesson plan of the week. This was also a time where we were able to discuss and debrief on our week. Show less

I was assigned to visit the homes of the 4 elderly and provide aid in household chores such as: cleaning the house, cooking breakfast/lunch/dinner, feeding pets, as well as errand running such as: retrieving mail from post office, grocery shopping, and picking up needed items from laundromats. Aside from the duties, sometimes I would simply visit one elderly for about 30 minutes to an hour weekly to have a good conversation and make sure that they are taking their medications. After each visit with an elderly, I was to write out a brief report on how many hours I helped out and what services I provided for the client, so that I can submit the report to my boss. Some clients I helped out occasionally, required medical help such as needing to be cleaned due to being bedridden, or to help give tube feedings. I only provided this assistance twice in my time of working for this organization, but most of the time, I would be providing basic home needs and errands, and emotional companionship for the clients. With providing the companionship, this produced trust and comfort of the elderly patient. Show less
