During the pursuit of my PhD in Biology at Columbia University, I worked in the lab of Dr. Carol Prives. Using molecular biological and biochemical tools I conducted research on the tumor suppressor protein p53. The function of this protein is lost in over half of human tumors. Given its importance in cancer biology, I studied the properties of p53 in an attempt to understand what functions of p53 contribute to its tumor-suppressive properties.
