Dan has always reminded me of a great chess player in his ability to notice and extrapolate on what others might view as minor or inconsequential pieces of information. He never merely accepts the results of any particular campaign--he's always looking four or five moves ahead to see what those results will mean in the longer term. I've never worked with anyone who's had such a natural ability to grasp the big picture. Dan also has an unceasing curiosity about how and why things work or don't. Again, he'll never just accept a result as a result. He will tirelessly investigate the why until he is satisfied that he has an answer which can be replicated or avoided. He is interested in learning about many different parts of a business and making connections between seemingly unrelated divisions within a company.
