Primary investigator of a research project with a team of smart data scientists and public policy gurus, investigating each of Washington State's workforce development regions in order to understand our capacity for increasing the overall number of and closing equity gaps for local residents to access the training and/or higher education needed to land the great jobs this state has to offer. The research includes regional-level data and information from three sectors: region-based employers, regional higher education institutions (voc/tech, 2-year, and 4-year), and student/job-seeker population data (K-12 students, adult re-enterers, veterans, students, partial degree completion adults). Results of this study are intended to inform leaders from the public and private sectors in each region in regards to current, as well as future workforce (and therefore, higher education credentialing) needs, and preliminarily assess options for growing higher education capacity in the region.I am also supporting a new endeavor at the UW College of Education, Unite:Ed, which aims to support and organize our great research and programming around local communities and education institutions. More on this to come as we build out this project.
