When I was the Deputy Assistant Director in the FBI’s Human Resources Division (HRD), I selected Wendy to be my Special Advisor. She was part of a program to bring recent MBA graduates from strong schools into the FBI to bring a different perspective and help solve business problems. At the time we were trying to make HRD a stronger partner to the operational/investigative divisions. Wendy came in and played a key role in implementing that vision. It involved changing perceptions as to both our role and our connection to the rest of the FBI. It involved setting meaningful and practical goals and measurements. Wendy’s ability to take that complex problem and break it down into achievable steps led us to promote her into a Senior Executive Service position within HRD. In that position she deftly handled, and modernized, performance management across the FBI with its 36,000 employees. She started an important insider threat initiative with partners outside of HRD and a myriad of other things. In both positions she served as an invaluable partner. She knew how to both give, and receive, feedback and I was a better leader as a result. She made a real difference for the FBI.

As there was a critical need for a sustainable playoff solution, I served as the lead architect for the creation and formation of a six-team conference qualifying for NCAA Division I championship play. I subsequently negotiated a conference expansion to a twelve-team league; resulting in doubling the league's membership and resources, increasing the visibility and strength of the conference and enhancing the student-athlete experience.
