Feb 1989 - Nov 2007
Founded in 1932 as the Experiment in International Living, World Learning promotes international and intercultural understanding throughout its many programs and locations around the globe. The School for International Training is the accredited college of World Learning, and its non-traditional approach to education emphasizes experiential learning in its two graduate, its semester abroad, and short-term programs. In this position, I provided support for all academic computing and media services activities on campus including: Internet usage, policies and administration; front-end administration for the Web, online conferencing; online course tools (Blackboard and Moodle), and filesharing. I supervised a staff of technical and student assistants; was responsible for planning and implementing the department’s budget; and I directed the use of the Multimedia Learning Center. I was responsible for the integration of appropriate technologies into the curricula; to research and make recommendations about emerging technologies; and to teach classes and workshops to faculty, staff and students about using technology in the teaching and learning process. I was a member of the organization’s WebTeam, co-chair of the Library and Educational Technology Advisory Board, and sat on the Graduate Council. I oversaw all technical aspects of World Learning's online courses and educational web activities, including faculty and technical support, and curriculum development for the online environment.
