For the last two years, Jamie has graciously agreed to visit the science communication course I teach at Duke University and lead discussions on "Science Policy and Science Communication". My course is primarily taken by junior/senior undergrads in STEM disciplines and students in our "MA in Bioethics and Science Policy" program. Jamie's experience and perspectives as both a scientist and someone with hands-on experience in science policy makes his contributions incredibly valuable, and my students really benefit from his expertise. He is an engaging and interactive presenter, and the stories he tells from his experience "in the trenches" with science policy are an invaluable addition to the course.

I teach a science communication workshop for graduate students. Jamie has graciously talked to the class via Skype a few times -- including one time when he rushed off a delayed plane and sat on the floor in a crowded airport to make the connection. My students routinely praise his comments for showing them what science communication is really like on a day-to-day basis.
