It is my aim to create an integrated approach to managing the care, access, and information within the Bute Collection. My first role is to preserve and develop the collection of Fine & Decorative Art to professionally recognized standards. The second is to promote and facilitate access in order to help realize the full long-term potential of the art/objects as an educational resource of local, national and international standing and relevance. I create documentation and programming for all Mount Stuart conservation activities, and manage the planning and delivery of loans, exhibitions, lectures, publications, and object features while supporting events and visitor services. Home to one of the UK’s foremost private collections of fine and decorative art, Mount Stuart has an outstanding collection of British portraiture, 16th century Italian masterpieces, and Dutch and Flemish Old Masters. Exceptional pieces of furniture, silver and porcelain are housed within spectacular Gothic Revival architecture, with interiors designed and decorated by eminent craftsmen such as H.W. Lonsdale, Nathaniel Westlake, William Burges, and Robert Weir Schultz, and Thomas Nicholls. Mount Stuart also has extensive libraries with over 25,000 books and an internationally historic archive dating from the 12th century to the present day.
