At Stockbridge Valley Central School, I am a long term substitute teacher in an inclusive fourth grade classroom. While in this position I create activities for students to use in literacy and mathematics instruction using the workshop model. The workshop model allows me to work with homogeneous groups of students and target their specific areas of need. Through the use of manipulatives, students are encouraged to use content knowledge to continuing growing in subject areas. Students are also encouraged to collaborate with their peers for certain activities and use problem solving skills as well as teamwork to successfully complete these activities. There are also many opportunities throughout the day that students are encouraged to work independently to showcase their knowledge and skills. In this position, I also collaborate with other teachers to plan various activities to best assist all students in the classroom. Show less

I tutored for a family in Homer, New York. Twice a week, I worked with their children on homework aligned with Common Core, projects, reading, and areas that they were struggling with. We worked on these topics through the use of technology (such as apps on an iPad or iPhone), through their assigned homework, or through mini-tests that I create. The children were in fourth grade and kindergarten. Unfortunately, I graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland and was no longer able to be a tutor for this family. Show less
