  As a veteran public servant, Susan Windmiller has an extensive portfolio of career highlights spanning more than 30 years of dedicated experience in criminal justice and law enforcement; public policy and advocacy; and intergovernmental and legislative affairs for Miami-Dade County in South Florida, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the U.S.For more than a decade, Ms. Windmiller oversaw the Miami-Dade Police Department’s (MDPD) intergovernmental affairs on the federal, state, and local levels, by advising MDPD Command Staff and local officials of critical legislation that was key to advancing and/or impacted the County’s and state law enforcement practices. Ms. Windmiller is a keen strategist whose skill and acumen helped raise the profile of the Miami-Dade Police Department to be highly sought out for law enforcement policy issues and best practices. She has authored extensive pieces of local legislation on a wide range of law enforcement subjects and been responsible for helping to secure more than $65 million in federal, state and private funding for law enforcement programs.
