Few people embody such dedication and education driven commitment like Allison. I had the joy of working with her while at Utahloy International School in Guangzhou, China for the 2019 academic year. Allison consistently thinks beyond the lesson, searching for practical real life application for her students, and regularly inspires her colleagues. Her heart truly embodies a teaching spirit, and will actively look for ways to keep learning herself. Any school would be lucky to have her as part of their team.

Oct 7th, 2021 To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to provide a reference letter for Allison Dunn who was our K2 (ages 4-5) class teacher at Utahloy International School Guangzhou (UISG) during the school year of 2019-2020. She worked collaboratively with two other K2 class teachers to plan effective conceptual learning engagements for the children. During her tenure at our IB school Allison taught onsite for half a year until COVID measures were reinforced. She was on vacation in Thailand and had to adjust to teaching online from where she was residing. Allison is seen as a passionate and committed qualified early childhood teacher who believes in providing children with a positive environment that promotes exploration. She is well aware of establishing and valuing the relationships between the children, their families with a supportive role. Allison clearly understands the importance of guiding, extending and supporting children through child-initiated play. She believes it is the most effective approach to intentional teaching. Allison comes with a wealth of experience and practices scaffolding and shared sustained interactions in her teaching. Her strong belief in student agency is reflected in her classroom with children being valued as participants. Allison is mindful of her children’s sense of well-being, sense of self and personal agency. Allison sets up an inquiry-based learning environment that can assess children’s strengths and their development through interactions and their actions. She regularly self-reflects as she believes this is an important aspect to successful teaching and learning. Due to COVID restrictions and border controls Allison was unable to return to Guangzhou to finish her contract at that time. I wish Allison all the best with her job search. Sincerely, Connie Chan Early Years Principal ISA Science City International School
