  Starting in 2008, Solar Nation (then known as Solectric, Inc.) was founded as a vertically integrated solar energy company. Initially, we sought to manufacture a thin-film photovoltaic panel while controlling all distribution and installation including design and engineering. Due to market conditions, we determined that the company's focus should be on the sale of systems and we would self perform all design, engineering, procurement and installation functions. As a founder and Executive Vice President, I was involved in the early strategy of the company, including market selection, marketing strategies and implementation and overall corporate development. I also aided in early fundraising activities. In addition, I provided support to our sales teams in Oregon, New Jersey and Pennsylvania to present solar system proposals including incentive based financial modeling for cash sales and power purchase agreements. As Vice President of Government Relations, I handled all interactions with government agencies and public officials as well as building coalitions with other industry leaders, elected officials and governmental administrators to implement policies that allowed and encouraged renewable energy production, implementation and integration. I helped found the Smart Energy Coalition and the ReNew PAC with executives from Sun Edison, Pacificorp and SolarWorld Americas. I was a member of several committees with the Oregon Solar Energy Industries Association, the Mid Atlantic Solar Energy Industries Association and the Utah Solar Energy Association.
