The ability to charge for content at the micropayments level provides a valuable middle-ground between free, ad-supported content and fully-paid subscriber access. The publishers sign up with atomdot using their existing GMail, yahoo, or other accounts, and connect with atomdot via a simple web service to verify asset ownership and provide purchasing options. Also created: 1. m:cloud: allows corporations such as banks to send real time account information to their customers' mobile phones via a cloud services layer. The cloud services layer dispatches SMS messages to the customers, allowing each customer access to information simultaneously from multiple sources. The SMS messages can be sent encoded so that on-device mobile applications can decode the message and display graphically rich content. This also eliminates the need for corporations to manage their connections with SMS aggregators. 2. m:info: allows corporations to 'piggy-back' on an existing SMS shortcode with their custom keyword and respond to incoming messages either with a static response or with a dynamic response from a web-service.
