I started at Axway as a C multiplatform developer, my main responsibilities being the development and maintenance of EAI oriented ANSI C and Java applications on 32 bit / 64 bit Windows/Solaris/AIX/AS400/HP-UX/HP-ITANIUM/Linux. After a few years I moved up to a team leadership position, in charge of a local team. My existing developer responsibilities were extended with technical leadership, coaching and mentoring as well and taking the role of Scrum Master in driving the implementation of an Agile development methodology. My first official project management position was handed to me a year or so later, having to manage the development from scratch of a new project for the company. I kept my technical responsibilities, both as a developer and tech lead, and also took on the software architect postition for this project. I had the great opportunity with this project to have worked directly with customers from multiple european countries, working on site with them and our pre-sales teams on PoCs and demos. Once this project had ran its course, a few years later, I moved to another project where I focused mainly on applying and improving my software architecture knowledge. I moved on from this role to take over the management of a distributed team scattered around the globe, in charge of the deployment and maintenance of the company's global continuous integration, acceptance and delivery infrastructure, both hardware and software, as well as offering consultancy and support to R&D teams globally to design and build their integration chains. Overall, at Axway, my responsibilities and knowledge have grown to include enterprise integration architectures, managing distributed teams and projects, Agile project management, people management and appraisals, recruitment interviews, designing and delivering trainings and technical presentations for employees and international customers, preparing and managing internship programs, and the list stays open.
