PhD student in Prof. Nick Gilbert's lab at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM). My research focuses on dissecting the mechanisms of higher-order chromatin folding. In particular, I am applying biophysical and molecular methods to understand the role of DNA sequence and nucleosome binding affinity on chromatin folding. Trained in Dr. Namik Kaya’s Neurogenetics lab which focused on finding novel mutations causing neurodevelopmental disorders, especially those within the autism-spectrum, as well as detecting chromosomal abnormalities and copy number variations (CNVs) in the Saudi population. Worked on a cytogenetic analysis project, reporting a case of a novel deletion in chr7q33-q34 in a patient presenting with heart disease. Worked in Prof. Vincent Dion's lab on investigating the role of the NuRD complex in trinucleotide repeat instability as a model to study the connection between chromatin structure and DNA repair mechanisms. •Transfected mammalian cells harboring CAG repeats with siRNAs against several genes of interest •Performed flow cytometric analysis using a GFP-reporter assay to measure change in repeat length Project sponsored by the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC) as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research program at the UNIL.
