I met Alex while we were both pursing our Masters of Public Administration at Hamline University. I have continued to work alongside Alex in local government, specifically with the Association of Public Management Professionals where Alex serves as a member. Alex brings a holistic vision to supporting local government initiatives, and is determined to make a difference in the communities he serves, and the outreach provided. Alex is steadfast in his determination to continue his educational journey, and seeks out professional development opportunities to increase his literacy in public administration. Alex is on the road to becoming one of the best City Administrators Minnesota will see. I am grateful to know Alex, and look forward to the many accomplishments he will experience in his career journey.

This position provided a wide range of projects across the County. Key Accomplishments: • Researched and updated the County Board on rules and regulations around the Federal ARP dollars. Created categories for potential ARP funded projects that aligned with County goals and strategies. Researched other agencies programs and internal non-discrimination practices. Compiled requirements from several state and federal agencies to determine what needed to be included in the plan. Met with several stakeholders and created the plan to ensure non-discrimination compliance . • Prepared summaries of the annual budget and created presentations for the County Board to ensure deadlines were met. • Deputy City Clerk
      • Jun 2019 - Mar 2020

Responsible for licensing/registration, utility accounts receivables, permits, preparation and follow-up of City Council and Parks Commission. Key Accomplishments: • Led the recodification project of the municipal code. Researched consultants, pricing, and information needed. Prepared documentation to convince the City Council to approve the use of Municode to re-codify the code because that would save the City money. The municipal code had not been codified since 2007, this meant that there could be redundant or irrelevant ordinances. The result was a better system, updated code, and the City saved money. • Notified local business that liquor licenses needed to be renewed annually and managed the renewal process ensuring that all renewals from Lake Elmo were done correctly and approved by the State and City Council. • Scanned decades of minutes into the Laserfiche database going back to the 1950’s. This allowed easy access for residents who requested to review records.

These events were so successful, that I received more responsibility for organizing larger events. • Reviewed new procedures, mitigated issues identified, and trained employees on the implementation of a new accounting software. The implementation went very well, and employees were excited for the new system that was more efficient, saving considerable time. • Took over the training of new interns and employees on important office practices and computer information because Human Resources needed assistance with onboarding. This process was more efficient for both the employee and Human Resources.
