Months later the size of the portfolio increased to cover also the Telco business for SIM cards. For this portfolio and until now I have completed several projects to redesign the chip module configuration in order to bring new costs optimizations without compromissing the quality of the product, achieving significant savings in the raw materials. These and other cost optimization measures are a constant work in progress together with the R&D teams and the suppliers in Asia and Europe to achieve new saving targets. These cost optimization activites extend also to my Inductive Coupling portfolio with additional success stories. Finally I am proactively running several activities to consolidate the phase out of products, reduce the variance of chip modules and control stocks levels. In parallel and for the last two Operative System product releases, I have been the hardware lead. As a side activity, in my free time I have supported during some months the business feasibility evaluation of an idea running in Advance 52, Giesecke+Devrient incubator. The idea was coming from a previous internal Hackathon activity, in which I also took part.

Within this department I was part of the Hardware Platforms Team, which mission is to manage the full portfolio of hardware elements for Payment and SIM cards with the focus on innovation, standardization and cost reduction. In this role I started leading some small size projects for card body developments. Later on became responsible for the card body innovation approvals with Mastercard and afterwards started to participate in a Program to introduce a new Contactless Payment Technology (Inductive Coupling) within G+D. After some time participating in the Program, I became the Product Lead of the portfolio. For this portfolio, my main achievement was to reorganize the strategy towards the supplier, consolidate the internal communication and redefine the product roadmap and market strategy, that until then was uncertain within the organization. As a side initiative I registered a European Patent for a new card body innovation. My last achievement in Barcelona was to take over the Payment Chip Module Portfolio, reason why I moved to the HQ in Munich within the same department.

My responsibility was within the Cockpit Maintenance and Operation Simulators, where I sucessfully planned, installed and qualified three simulators for different Air Forces (RAF, Armée de L'air and Luftwaffe), having the opportunity to spend time working in close cooperation with mechanics and pilots during On-Site Factory Acceptances inside the military facilities. During the project execution, I experienced coordinating and working together with a wide range of stakeholders including OCCAR, Air Forces from different countries, Suppliers and Instructors from Airbus Training Centre. Finally and for the Unit One installed in the Airbus Training Centre, I participated in the requirements definition and qualification of the software update packages for the simulator, that later on were rolled out to the other units. As a side activity to my role in Airbus, I wanted to keep working in software development activities, so I joined an 'Excellence Center' in Altran were I developed an iOS app for iPad for the Altran's Innovation Department during my free time. I had to validate the cockpit structures in the supplier, monitor and sometimes assist the hardware technicians with the wiring and routing of the cockpit, support the Factory Acceptance Testing, install the simulators in the customer facilities, support the Certification of the simulators with the Civil Aviation authorities and provide customer training, support and maintenance to the installed simulators. During this time I was responsible for three full helicopter simulators projects delivered to the Chilean Airforce (FACH) and two private pilot schools in Germany. In addition to that, I participated in the Civil Certification of simulators previously installed in Italy and Romania and ran the periodic on-site maintenance of the helicopter simulator of the Spanish National Police. As relevant activities performed in the software area, I have proposed and executed the re-desing of the UI for the instructor station, integrated a real navigation equipment in one of the helicopter simulators, developed a prototype video recording system inside the cockpits and programmed all the instruments and avionics of a new simulator model just before leaving the company in the search of new opportunities.
