His extensive international experience combined with his empathy and passion toward social justice issues make him a wonderful candidate in the nonprofit realm. Telephone and on-site consecutive interpretation, document translation. This was my first experience with free-lance interpreting. However, Benoit did not require my services as a Vietnamese interpreter. There were no Vietnamese Americans within 100 square miles of Brattleboro, VT while I lived there. Awards: SIT Scholarship SIT Career Experience Scholarship GPA: 3.64 The SIT Graduate Institute offers many intensive two year Master's Degree programs. I took a full course load of over 15 hours per semester and Winter break to complete all on-campus academics in 1 year. In the second year, I did a six month practicum in Vietnam with HKIVN (see below) and defended my capstone paper based upon my research in Hanoi. At SIT I developed strong interpersonal communication skills, cultural competencies, as well as presentation, research, networking, teaching and organizational skills which have been invaluable in my professional and personal life. I also gained invaluable experience with non-profits in Vietnam and further improved my professional fluency in the Vietnamese language. Show less

"Chuyện Phiếm" Recurring Guest Star
-
Dec 2012 - Feb 2013
■ Performed as a guest star with MC Thảo Vân and Thùy Linh as the only guest fluent in the southern (Quy Nhon) vernacular. Discussed contemporary Vietnamese issues with other guests in Vietnamese on national TV (with occasional singing and dancing). I was discovered completely by accident while having coffee with the show's co-host and friend, Sam Smukler. I gained experience working on a TV set and met an international circle of friends while having altogether too much fun on national TV. On a serious note, participating in the show also brought more attention to HKIVN and the work we are doing in Hanoi. Show less

* Demonstrated creativity and advanced communication skills through the delivery of new employee orientations * Implemented creative, spontaneous and original troubleshooting procedures and streamlining processes * Exemplified safe work ethic, endurance and sustained efficiency during twelve hour rotating shifts Going into the factory near my home in Muskogee, Oklahoma for 5 years allowed me to earn a good living and support my family, save money, pay back student loans, buy a house and car, and prepare for graduate school. I learned to react calmly in emergencies, put safety first on the job, at home and on the road, and proudly work along side the same men and women my father, Gary Owen worked with from 1978-1998.
