Tasked with designing Metal Expansion Joints in accordance with PED(Pressure Equipment Directive) rules. Responsibilities included drafting mechanical designs on SolidWorks for quotation purposes, drafting production drawings for realized quotations, troubleshooting production issues with the Engineering Team. Also worked closely with certification authority TUV Nord to come up with a standardized way of analyzing complex designs using FEM. An elementary investigation into the possibility of harvesting energy using vortex-induced vibrations(VIV). This involved the study of the phenomenon of vortex shedding and it's characterization using a non-dimensional parameter, the Strouhal number. The relationship between the Strouhal number and VIV was investigated after which the energy output of a miniature device based on the principle was determined.
