I have worked with Sophia for almost 4 years now, and every day I continue to learn new things from working with her and just existing around her. To say she inspires me would be an understatement. She may just be the best coworker I have had the pleasure of working with and the most dedicated employee, any company who employs her is extremely lucky. Sophia is completely honest about anything and everything, and this quality is something I appreciate probably more than I could ever tell her with words. As my supervisor presently, her leadership abilities and willingness to make sure I have everything I could possibly need to succeed, is deeply appreciated. Her dedication to the Animal Rescue League of NH is absolute, and through her I have developed as a professional and as a human being, and she has a way of opening and broadening your perspectives that I have yet to discover in any other human being. She continues to further her own knowledge with post graduate education, as she is always aiming to better care for the shelter animals, and educate the public. She would be a tremendous asset to any employer and just knowing she is my coworker makes me proud of be part of the dedicated Animal Rescue League staff.

Sophia has exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills and is a tremendous asset to any organization. A true team player, she has proven time and again to have an excellent critical thinking ability as well as the empathy, care and patience required to assist the community served by our animal welfare organization. Sophia is very self-motivated, quick to learn and keen to take on any additional responsibility to help our organization meet its mission. Any organization would be extremely lucky to hire Sophia, she has my highest recommendation.

Creating better systems for lost and found animals for our shelter and community members, creating integrations with other lost and found animal databases and creating applications in our shelter management software. I update our social media accounts with creative and engaging content and I am currently designing a new website for the shelter. Show less

    • Animal Care and Adoptions Coordinator
      • Mar 2019 - Feb 2022

I manage and facilitate adoptions in the shelter and ensure that a high level of care is maintained for all shelter residents. It is also my joy to supervise and work with a small team of staff to create a positive experience for all animals and adopters. I oversee the barn cat program and evaluate cats for program eligibility and review adoption applications. I assist the director in creating adoption promotions and posting on social media accounts to promote animals. With the help of my staff, we ensure all animals have beautiful photos and clever, honest write ups to increase adoption inquiries. I also assist in daily animal care as well as basic veterinary care and medication distribution. Show less

As an adoption counselor I worked with potential adopters and available animals to find appropriate homes for the animals in our care. I carefully explained different animals needs and behaviors to ensure potential adopters had a full understanding of each individual animal. I maintained clean, safe and engaging environments shelter animals of various species.

I worked with the houseless population who were eligible for the community program to get them into community rental housing. I worked closely with landlords to build housing partnerships, assessed and inspected housing units to ensure compliance with safety codes, and coordinated money transactions between landlords, participants and the organizations. I worked with participants to empower them and assist them in their goals towards housing independence. An Americorps victim advocate placed at Voices Against Violence provides advocacy to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, and more. We provide case management for clients, connecting them to a multitude of resources that fit their needs. We also accompany clients to court cases, assist with legal paperwork and basic legal assistance, and connect them with attorneys and law enforcement. We work closely with local law enforcement, court security, victim's compensation, pro bono programs, other crisis centers, and many more. We also have a confidential shelter in which we provide safe transitional housing for victims who are fleeing in fear. Most of all, we provide support. Show less
