Accounting & Finance Services When we outsourced our accounting department to Missionwell in summer, 2010, we saved $100,000 in the first year after start up. An up front investment in reworking our accounts, reports, and streamlined work flow was paid out after five months of service. The ongoing savings reduced our operating deficit, preserving funding for key programs. Missionwell processes our gifts, performs all of our accounting, and administers our banking and credit cards. Missionwell team members join us for our conferences and special events, as well. The responsiveness of our Missionwell team is excellent, and the quality of work has actually risen each year. CFO Services When our Missionwell CFO services started, our board was not clear about the size of our operating deficit. Our Missionwell CFO completely revamped our financial statements and remapped our accounts. Now we can actually see what our programs are spending, and what our operating (vs. non-operating) results are. Its given the board and leadership great transparency. Missionwell developed an RFP for investment counsel, after determining that a portion of our investment portfolio was underperforming. Her second RFP was for property management services which has yielded an excellent property manager, who has nearly fully leased our main building, which was initially over half vacant. Lease income has grown, providing a now material source of funding for programs. Our CFO has assisted with fraud detection at one of our camps and renegotiated camp debt. She has introduced strategy tools for our use in aligning budgets and performance, and makes sure we are considering impact in every program. We have an extensive footprint covering the western US, with many property and commercial issues. Our CFO is now working on property strategies, clarifying ownership, leasing, trust and other legal, commercial and financial issues for our property portfolio.

World Vision outgrew the ability to solve many global problems by picking up the phone while I was CFO. I designed and led the first phase of "Our Future", which created new governance models, shifted strategy paradigms, and began a culture of sharing services across the globe.
