Jan 2019 - Present
As a consultant, I combine the management skills accrued from a twenty-year career in business development and operations, and the marketing and technology expertise from building an award-winning digital marketing agency, to help organisations tackling complex environmental challenges develop strategies, plan and execute projects, and convey vision, performance and progress with credibility, impact and transparency.Key areas of focus: research; strategy; capacity building; project management; communications.Recent projects: content creation and communications support for the Soufriere Marine Management Association and the Saint Lucia National Trust; digital content for a solar energy company; research for the InterAmerican Development Bank; a comprehensive research project to assess the nature and extent of sustainability reporting by Caribbean hotels, comprising data from >500 hotels and a dozen key stakeholders (see below).I believe strongly in social entrepreneurship: as Environmental Sustainability Chair for Rotary District 7030, I lead projects related to refrigerant removal and biofuel production across the Southern Caribbean; as Chapter Leader for UOcean Saint Lucia, a global non-profit focused on ocean conservancy, I coordinate volunteer clean-up activities, promote education and awareness, and advocate for sustainable development and policymaking; as Ambassador for the Virtual Island Summit, I represent Saint Lucia at an annual event bringing together >10,000 policymakers, entrepreneurs and NGO leaders from island nations to address issues related to sustainability.I have an MBA with a focus on sustainability communications, and am certified in sustainability reporting by the GRI, sustainable tourism by the GSTC, and stakeholder engagement by the InterAmerican Development Bank. I write regularly on sustainable development within small island developing states, and more widely on the challenges and opportunities associated with the blue economy.
