  As part of her assistant principal role, Michelle served as the coordinator of curriculum, instruction, and assessment at Alcoa Elementary School in the Alcoa City Schools district. She also served as the Title I Coordinator for AES, allocating incoming federal money and insuring compliance with federal guidelines. Michelle managed formal test data for the school and analyzed it in order to help teachers and grade level teams make effective, ongoing instructional decisions. Michelle also actively sought out, created, and promoted professional development for teachers, based on school-wide data or individual need. In addition, Michelle helped monitor students' academic progress through data, observations, and teacher conferences, to help identify potential and immediate needs. She helped manage the school's RTI process and programs, both textbook-based and web-based, that support those students in the classroom and after school. This includes conducting research about, and working directly with, many educational and instructional support companies to supplement school curriculum. Some of these companies include Renaissance, Discovery Education, Study Dog, Earobics, and Wilson Language. Prior to that position, she was the school's AYP coordinator.
