Kem has proven to be incredibly valuable on anything to do with computing toolsets: whether programming or networking/virtualization or applying external tools, he is able to make things work. In addition to creating long-lasting architectures, he has been able to recover old systems and investigate parts nobody else knows with the business side. He's one of the best engineers I know.

Kem is extremely intelligent and can get himself up to speed on complex projects quickly. His ability to understand issues from different and unique perspectives made him a valuable asset for new project designs and troubleshooting difficult issues. Excellent communication skills and a fun personality made it a pleasure to work with Kem. I would enjoy a chance to work with him again.

Implemented a customer service website using ajax with rails to make for a web 2.0 customer service employee experience. Implemented an extensive test suite during development, following the agile methodology to ensure fast, bug-free deploys. Co-created an open source ruby framework designed around the principal of optimizing developer time. Designed and implemented a rules language using ruby to allow for boolean operations and controlled database queries, allowing customers to control back-end server processes according to their needs. I also implemented an ajax web interface to allow them to edit their rules. Implemented back-end processes for supporting short term loans and the ability to schedule payback of them by customers using various methods and terms. Implemented a prototype iPhone application for doing cost comparison lookup on Amazon using the WebKit API. Show less

Created a library that would scrape portions of the web and convert it to a voice menu to allow our customers to purchase products off the web. Implemented a library to allow our customers to select a section of a website, and then later call in, and have us read them that same updated part of the website back to them. Worked on a voice recognition front end wrapper for voicemail systems, allowing our users to interact with a standard dtmf voicemail by using their voice (with our system as a go-between). Worked on a spontaneous VPN product for enabling ActiveSync on smartphones over a wireless public network, including the ability to tunnel through the corporations firewall in order to sync with the clients work computer. Implemented a cross-platform, client / server protocol that included automatic data compression, multi-threaded prioritization of client requests. Implemented a core library to allow the other developers to write code that would work on both the Mac operating system as well as Windows, without having to write platform-specific code. This included writing a wrapper around Mac OS threads and Windows threads to allow for a uniform threading behavior between the 2 platforms. Wrote a small database optimized for fast indexing / searching of keywords in a library environment. Show less
