I assist clients with a variety of issues related to aging loved ones or loved ones who have passed. At times an aging parent or spouse has lost the ability to create a power of attorney, and a commiteeship - where a judge appoints someone to make decisions on behalf of a person who is incapacitated - is needed. It's also common, following the death of a spouse or parent, that an estate requires the intervention of the legal system. Maybe a person believes he or she was wrongfully disinherited, or he or she received too little from an estate. Maybe you discover, after a loved-one has passed away, that someone was taking assets from the now-deceased, and you need assistance bringing those assets back into the estate. Perhaps a beneficiary of the estate cannot be located, and distribution of the estate is being held-up in the meantime. Maybe a family-member is attempting to force an inheritance from an estate after being disinherited by a will, and you find yourself needing to defend estate assets. When the estates in your life require interaction with the court system, we are there to help.
