  Leading the team responsible for the company’s integration platform based on Tibco (EMS, BW), hosting over 1,000 queues / topics and over 200 BW apps. Providing best practices and guidelines for internal developers that want to develop solutions aimed at data integration. Some of my accomplishments: * Expert technical advisor for projects that have data integration as one of their goals. * Acted as the principal project manager in a server upgrade project. Took technical and business decisions on when and how to upgrade. We manage to make this big upgrade within a 2-hour downtime window that was given to us, no critical systems needed to be shutdown and the whole team got a recognition for our outstanding performance. * Current SLA allows a downtime of 30 minutes per year, for the past 3 years the service uptime has been 100%. * Wrote a web-based tool (using Java and async concepts) that allows developers to perform administrative tasks on queues/topics, it is also used as a monitoring tool that proactively checks queues/topics for pending messages, users set a threshold on the number of pending messages, if this limit is reached the app will send a notification out to desired people. * Wrote a highly scalable set of background jobs using Akka framework to replace the functionality of Tibco CLE (A logging an exception app provided by Tibco). * Sysadmin in charge of managing a cluster of servers providing Tomcat / Apache / MySQL services to developers , supporting more than 100 apps in production. * All services running under Red Hat Linux Enterprise.   A hybrid e-commerce (online and physical) company focused on local products with a word-of-mouth approach. I was working as a part-time Director of Technology, responsible for hiring / mentoring developers, designing the architecture of the platform, managing budget, doing code reviews and creating a continuous delivery workflow to Google Cloud Platform. The technology stack is based on Java (Play! Framework and Spring Boot), NodeJS (Sails framework), AngularJS, HTML5, CSS3 and python, communication between the components is 100% HTTP based on REST principles, all APIs are documented using the “API Blueprint” project (https://apiblueprint.org). Achievements: * Coding and devops activities were part of my daily activities, a hands-on person. * Grew the IT team from 1 to 6 engineers, 3 backend, 2 frontend, 1 UI/UX designer. * Built the ecommerce platform from scratch, the first version went to production in six months, with a team of 3 people including myself. * Microservices oriented architecture, over 20 services deployed on Google Compute Engine, continuous deployment and other goodies are in place. * Agile and Kanban based development. * Responsible for budgets and planning. * Managing a team of 6 people, frontends, backends and devops. * Created a blueprint for a real time analytics project including sentiment analysis and intelligent marketing push to customers, the project is still under development. I was hired to provide guidelines, best practices and mentoring the current pool of developers, also serving as a focal point to clients, understanding their requirements and proposing new ideas. Achievements: * Created a development / deployment workflow including continuous integrations and deployments to AWS infrastructure. * Converted the team to an Agile methodology. * Successfully migrated all the infrastructure from a private VPS to Amazon AWS, providing a more “agile way” to do continuous deployments and improving the scalability of all applications. All Server components are now based entirely in Java/Scala using the Play! framework (async and non-blocking I/O). * Designed a highly scalable, highly reusable distributed architecture based on REST concepts, moving JSON back and forth, it is now the foundation for every new application we build. * Ubuntu, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, MySQL, Java/Scala, Go!, are the main technologies in use.. Native iOS/Android applications speaking JSON back and forth. * AngularJS is the front-end framework, using the same API as the mobile apps. Wrote a web based app that is wrapper around deployment scripts, giving the developers a one-stop shop to move code from the different environments, lowering the time taken to move code to production by almost 70%.
