  • Member of a small team responsible for maintaining and delivering advanced regulatory control and supervisory multivariable predictive applications (using AspenTech DMC) designed to optimise refinery production. • In this role I had great freedom and elected to develop a new DMC controller on a minor unit which resulted in stable on spec production. I also acted as a champion for a sustainable analyser strategy. • A major achievement was to commission a DMC controller on a Hydrocracking unit. This work won a Technical Service award. Show less

  • In this role I was responsible for troubleshooting operational problems, managing minor shutdowns, providing Superintendent leave cover • I was the Operations lead for shutdowns on various refinery units including the first shutdown of the Vacuum Distillation unit (VDU), Hydrocracking unit (HCU) and several Reformer shutdowns.• I acted as the Operations representative at a range of minor project and major shutdown Hazops.• In this role I spent time at the Cherry Point Refinery, USA, for a Hydrocracker shutdown.• This was a very challenging role, great for developing my experience in managing others and learning skills to make good decisions under pressure.   • Working out of the refinery control room I developed experience in control configuration and loop tuning on Foxboro and Honeywell DCS (distributed control system) systems.• This role provided experience working with operators and trouble shooting refinery operations.• In this role I worked at the Bulwer Island Refinery, Brisbane, as well as at the BP Lavéra Refinery in France. This change gave me the opportunity to work in an overseas environment and in a foreign language. • Whilst posted in France I successfully managed a project to design and build a new supervisory multivariable predictive controller using Dynamic Matrix Control (AspenTech DMC).
