      Dynamic simulation of the interaction between coupled system piping-anchor-building of the Nuclear reactor in Abaqus. In nuclear power plants, post-installed anchors are used for connections between concrete structure and non-structural components such as piping systems. Dynamic loading during an earthquake leads to dynamic interactions between concrete structure and non-structural component. Besides the vibrational behavior of the subsystems, the dynamic behavior of the coupled system concrete-fastening-piping is also influenced by the load-bearing behavior of the anchors. At anchor loads close to ultimate load, the load-bearing behavior of anchors is highly nonlinear due to plastic deformation of the anchor bolt and cracking of the concrete. This project involved experimental and numerical investigation of the interaction of the coupled system. Here my task was to modify the User subroutine material model (UMAT) in FORTRAN which represents the nonlinear load-bearing behavior of post-installed anchors and use it for the dynamic simulation.

      Numerical simulation of Delamination during milling of cross-ply CFRP laminate. The machining of advance composite materials is an important procedure to incorporate these materials in to engineering application. However machining can induce delamination and other defects in carbon fiber reinforced composite material. The simulation techniques would help into improvement of the machining process. In my current thesis work, the model with solid element and tie break contact using explicit finite element method in LS-Dyna has been developed, to simulate delamination induced by a milling process in cross-ply CFRP material. Through the analysis of simulation model and experimental tests, the influence of feed rate (f z ), cutting velocity (v c ) and cutting depth (h) on the delamination has been studied. At the end of work a concrete definition of future work for the simulation of milling process has been defined, in order to describe further interaction taking place on the real processing of the fiber reinforced materials.
