I design high performance machine motion platforms for automated carbon fiber layup. I optimize structures to maximize stiffness and minimize mass. This includes analysis and design of precision CNC machine servo drive train. To achieve this, novel machine designs have been developed to idealize load path and reduce forces on bearings for maximum machine service life. I performed structural analysis of 787 wing skin carbon fiber primary structure using Patran/Nastran and Excel. I also had the privilege of doing all the wing skin analysis for a small wing box test article.
