Watsonville, CA --Co-created and managed the first tech co-working space for youth in the community. Digital NEST started as an idea in January 2014 and we managed to make it a reality shortly after in November 2014. We opened a pilot space of about 2,000 square feet with the help of the entire community and volunteers. The organization gained recognition from the White House as an exemplary model for creating talent in rural communities and strengthening the workforce. … Show more --Co-created and managed the first tech co-working space for youth in the community. Digital NEST started as an idea in January 2014 and we managed to make it a reality shortly after in November 2014. We opened a pilot space of about 2,000 square feet with the help of the entire community and volunteers. The organization gained recognition from the White House as an exemplary model for creating talent in rural communities and strengthening the workforce. --I was in charge of overseeing over 50 programs in the facility throughout the course of a year. - Designed and implemented educational programs on topics ranging from object oriented programming to video production. - Quality assured programs designed and written by over 30 volunteer instructors - Oversaw program implementation by volunteer instructors - Designed evaluation instruments for implemented programs - Established operations for managing a space that sees about 30 youth per day during the school year and 80 during the summer. - Established educational strategies for a space that is fluid and run mostly by industry professional volunteers. By the following year, we were able to hire more staff and move to a larger location in the heart of the town. I was able to adapt to the constant change and acclimated myself to a new position.
