I am responsible for all digital product development across our range of products (including spring.co.nz & dsrupt.com). All our products are at varying stages of maturity where some have been developed internally from scratch and other purchased as operational platforms. My role can be categorised by two main functions (along with all the other random tasks that go hand and hand with running a product team):1) Bringing together all the necessary people and facilitating the collaboration required to debate, define, and plan the product strategies. This includes the founders with their strategic vision, commercial managers, subject matter experts, product designers (UI & UX) and technical architects.2) Running the day to day activities of the product delivery teams which includes everything from product design through the full development lifecycle to production support.

As the Head of Technology at Localist (owned by Spring) I oversaw the development and maintenance of the Localist online business directory website. When we purchased the Localist business the technology stack was outdated and somewhat brittle. I instigated the improvement and stability program, alongside an infrastructure upgrade, to ensure Localist could operate with minimal development involvement. I had line management and mentoring responsbility for all of the digital Project Managers, along with the developers in the Salesforce competency. I Implemented project processes including sprint planning, release planning, and product backlog prioritisation with the stakeholders, the UAT process and facilitation of sprint reviews. I also implemented and improved development processes in conjunction with the development manager including Test Driven Development, peer reviews, source control and application release procedures.

I managed the transition of the development team from a traditional ‘waterfall’ project to an agile Scrunm based approach.I also managed an offshore development team (based in India) of 12 resources with responsibility for development planning & prioritising, functional testing, release approval and weekly status update calls.
