    • Writing Consultant
      • Aug 2022 - Present

I am an undergraduate writing consultant at the UT Austin Writing Center. I practice the NDNE (Non-Directive Non-Evaluative) method to help fellow students improve their writing process, not just the work in question. I will consult for application essays, technical writing, class assignments, creative works, presentations, science papers, and more. Students I work with come from a variety of backgrounds, and I'm constantly attending trainings to learn how to best support ESL (English as a Second Language), neurodivergent, and first-generation students, among others.

      • Dec 2021 - Present

I work with two other undergraduates to transcribe signs from 13 different sign languages, contributing to a database of transcriptions with the end goal of supporting further research into sign language origins. For the purposes of the project, the Hamburg Notation System is used to record 3-dimensional signs.

As an intern, I learned about the Non-Directive Non-Evaluative (NDNE) approach to consulting and prepared to become a writing consultant at the UT Austin Writing Center.

I also lead trainings for new research assistants to learn how to run visits with study participants. I worked for a week with the Bercy Chen architects to develop a 3D model of one of their residential products, utilizing topographical layers on AutoCAD and a model of the home in SketchUp. I also used a drone to capture photos of a property, so an architect could use them to plan out a renovation.
