Original hired at DramaFever, I worked on the namesake DramaFever app (K-Dramas, app is no longer around) and . After a year I was asked to work on a new project named Shudder which was done for AMC. This was a streaming video app, specializing in Horror. I spearheaded the effort to start using a new language, Swift, for this project. Within a year, all projects were written in Swift. I assisted on some other projects (DocClub - which I believe morphed into Sundance Now) and helped with other work as needed. I was chosen to start be the technical lead of the DC Universe project on iOS. I was the lead on the project all through the release, and over a year after that. I started work on another streaming video project in the Spring of 2020. Show less

Worked as a contractor for AmerisourceBergen and developed an app that allows their customers to track purchases and order new inventory. Led a team of engineers on the project. Developed a separate app for AmerisourceBergen, which was used at a trade-show to sell products. Did some HTML5-Javascript web-app coding, using Odata, connecting to an SMP backend. Provided technical leadership to a small team of four other engineers to create an iPad app that could access the user's credit card balances, histories, and make payments. Introduced other engineers to Scrum to manage our project. Wrote the client side REST services with RestKit. Wrote push notification services that got triggered from Facebook realtime updates that would get triggered when someone checked into one of our partner stores. Led the effort to develop a client-side SDK for iOS, that would draw a map, give a person point-to-point directions, and also look up places. This SDK provided an abstraction layer that would call back-end services, so the developers wouldn't have to. This effort was part of an effort by Nokia to standardize on a common set of operations on many mapping products at once. Had to have meetings with other engineers, in other parts of the world, to come to an agreement about how this could be accomplished. Show less

After leading small teams for a few years, was asked to run the department. I went through the Certified ScrumMaster course, and persuaded the company to try Scrum as a way to manage our projects. Promoted better coding practices (code reviews, agile methods, continuous integration) and managed resources. Oversaw the hiring of more Java engineers, so that we could do J2EE work. Oversaw the migration of our apps from Metrowerks CodeWarrior to Xcode. Migrated our CVS repos into SVN. Did automated builds with Hudson, including the iPhone project. Show less

Ported our applications to the Carbon SDK, so they could be run on Mac OS X. Our applications were used in desktop publishing, so I was an early adopter of the InDesign/InCopy plugin SDK, a C++ framework like CORBA. I learned a great deal about STL, since the SDK was very C++ heavy. Taught other engineers on the team about InDesign plugins. Created client-side SOAP routines that are used in 5 of our products. Researched J2EE technology (Eclipse, Axis-2, Apache Tomcat) which connected to MS SQL Server, returning result sets through SOAP calls. Show less

Supported the development of driver- and application-level software on both Macintosh and PC. Provided estimates on tasking. Adapted the source code to use more modern APIs. Contributed to Kensington MouseWorks - software that allows the user to create custom actions based on mouse-clicks and movement. Worked on both Mac and PC sides of this product, and also created the first USB code to drive new devices.
