  The €23million N3 project included the design and construction of 7km single carriageway road through a complex area of loughs, rivers, bog and drumlin and includes significant excavation and replace of peat bog. The alignment passed through the Lough Oughter & Associated Loughs candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) which is protected under the European Habitats Directive. The project included two significant bridges; the 3 span 142m River Erne Bridge constructed as a cable stayed bridge of the extradosed variety which was the first of its kind to be constructed in Ireland and the 3 span 231m Aghnaguig Bog Bridge constructed as a balanced cantilever using a travelling shutter system.
