Bilingual Benefits Outreach Coordinator
-
Aug 2014 - Sep 2016
Our department is responsible for helping clients apply for and successfully access public benefits: Medicaid, TANF, and SNAP. I served primarily as the head of case-management for a team of over 9 application assisters. In this role, I worked to improve team communication with clients, acted as the department liaison to over 10 Department of Human Services Offices, kept up-to-date knowledge of DHS policy/procedures, educated entire team on any policy updates, and maintained the shared essentials (phone systems, databases, email accounts, reporting procedures, etc.). In addition to these responsibilities, I managed a daily caseload of over 70 households who had encountered some difficulty in applying for/acquiring benefits. It was my pleasure to guide my clients through the application process and assist them to resolve any problems or confusion encountered therein. I am proud to report that 99% of my clients saw some advancement in their application for benefits after my intervention.
