During my career with London Underground I held senior positions in maintenance, planning and engineering functions, with up to 1,500 staff and £130m/year opex budget. Maintenance roles were mainly in the rolling stock and track functions, but my later roles in systems engineering and asset planning covered the full range of rail assets including CBTC signalling. Since becoming an independent consultant in 2014, I have worked on tram, metro, light rail and heavy rail.
