I am a trilingual, POC fiber artist. Once in the tech industry as a linguistic specialist, I left my day job to pursue a creative career. While I mainly knits and crochets, macramé and weaving are also part of my everyday life.I started BlackSheepMade in 2014 as a way to fund an internship abroad while in college but over the last four years it has evolved into large public installations, long-term pop-ups and traveling workshops. You can find my latest mural in my hometown of San Jose, California at The Berryessa Flea. I wove a 15 x 8–foot (4.5x 2.5–m) mural with my dad, Francisco, as an homage to my late abuelita and hometown culture. In the Fall of 2018, I ran a two-month long pop-up in downtown Portland via a city-funded program. I was able to test out my idea of a “deli for knits”: choose a style of beanie or scarf, pick your colors and I'll knit it up in a week. In October 2019, Travel Portland and My People’s Market sponsored a trip to Japan to discuss life as a POC entrepreneur, teach a macrame workshop, and vend at a local market. In January 2020, I published my first DIY book, Chunky Knits. It is a step-by-step how-to knitting book that includes 30 patterns and a techniques section. I wrote, designed ,and knit all of the patterns that can be found in the book. It was published through Page Street Publishing.Today, I continue my art career as a designer for various fiber brands and local businesses and teach fiber workshops in both English and Spanish. You can find individual pieces in brick-and-mortars across Portland, OR and California. For wholesale, consignment, and commissions you can email me at hello@blacksheepmade.com.My work can be found at https://www.blacksheepmade.com/. My book can be found wherever books are sold, including Amazon.

This includes materials research, design, and step-by-step written and photo instructions. Collaborate with other local artists and makers to teach project-based workshops at DIY Bar.-Sales/marketing: Schedule meetings with other businesses, set up and work tradeshows and pop-ups, stop by hotels & drop off flyers, drop into breweries and leave stickers & bottle openers.-Craft-Tender: CTs help customers with craft projects and serve alcohol.
