Final-year internship as Structural Engineer
-
Mar 2017 - Sep 2017
Objective: To implement and study coupled thermomechanical finite element models related to exhausts' nozzle for both in service (A380) or under development (A330neo) programs. Issue: The trailing edge of exhausts' primary nozzle sees both cold and hot flows. The resulting thermal gradient is the main source of stresses in this area (differential thermal expansion). A detailed analysis of this area is then necessary to get relevant results.- To implement the thermal finite element model in order to get the inputs for the mechanical model, and then to implement the coupling (using one common model),- To perform a comparative study in terms of solutions of contact available in Patran-Nastran,- To realize influence studies in terms of: materials, geometry, mesh, loads...- To investigate hand calculation possibilities as pre-sizing tool for this exhaust system part.- To improve the information exchange efficiency between Thermal and Stress departments. May 2016 - Aug 2016
Objective: To design a new drilling procedure in order to improve the tool life and the holes’ quality, optimizing drilling parameters (geometry of the tool, cooling system, chatter conditions management) and simplifying the process.Issue: Titanium is a hard-to-machine material which requires choosing the appropriate drill bit and drilling conditions to obtain good quality holes (without tool mark, without ovalization...).Project Partners: CTRM Aero Composites, SDMK and AMIC… Objective: To design a new drilling procedure in order to improve the tool life and the holes’ quality, optimizing drilling parameters (geometry of the tool, cooling system, chatter conditions management) and simplifying the process.Issue: Titanium is a hard-to-machine material which requires choosing the appropriate drill bit and drilling conditions to obtain good quality holes (without tool mark, without ovalization...).Project Partners: CTRM Aero Composites, SDMK and AMIC. This project was linked to the nacelle program "A350 XWB Fan Cowl". - To write a literature review regarding titanium drilling,- To find new technical solution in order to reduce chatter conditions and heating,- To design some parts on CATIA V5 (drill bits, drilling guide, cooling system),- To implement a dynamic finite element model on ABAQUS in order to optimize the geometry of the drill bit, the material to use and some drilling parameters.- To write reports and to perform oral presentations. Industrial Placement at Badoit, a subsidiary of Danone Waters
-
Feb 2015 - Feb 2015
For a month, I worked on the production line as a factory worker.- To supervised the production, - To perform quality control procedures, - To make sure the supply chain was correctly working, - To clean up my work space (conveyors, production machines). I worked in a team, with two eight-hour shifts.
