  I studied UI Design with a specialization in Animation at CareerFoundry. I worked on several student projects as I was learning. My first project was an '80s music player app called Taper. I learned a lot about design principles and theory during this project. I also got a feel for best practices when designing for iOS and how wireframes can save you a lot of time before you even open Adobe XD. I designed the UX & UI for my second project. Kitchen Prep is a responsive recipe app with a focus on new cooks that features a built-in meal planning calendar and a shopping list that auto-fills with the ingredients you need for the week. For the UX portion I conducted competitive analysis on similar apps, conducted interviews and created user personas. All of this research helped guide my design and feature decisions in the UI phase. I also had to keep in mind the design break points for iPhone/iPad/Computer screen sizes when designing. Up until this point I had been choosing projects from 2 choices offered by CF but the next project was entirely original. I had an idea for a status update app where you could make a group of 3 online gaming friends and if you were able to play that night you would simply set your light to green and that would show your status on their app with no other communication. I designed the app for both iOS and Android following the platform specific design styles along the way. MedGet is a responsive app that I designed with Seniors in mind. It is a medical supply app that has larger font sizes and simple navigation to cater to my audience. I began to explore animating withing XD for the splash screen of this app. I conducted some user testing in the wireframe stage to make sure my user-flow was working as intended. Lastly, I designed and animated Inside. It is a smart home app that I designed and added animations using After Effects. I really enjoyed my time learning about AE and am excited to continue exploring it after graduation.
