The West Coast Bioenergy Guild is a selective group of professionals in the bioenergy and sustainable energy sector in British Columbia, Canada. Guild meetings take place on a monthly basis. It is a friendly and relatively informal group of professionals who discuss bioenergy projects they are involved with. It is a good way to get a feel for the general direction of the sector. The Guild is aimed at aimed at motivated/intelligent/passionate people in the bioenergy sector in BC. Membership is not exclusive but is selective as there are snake-oil salespeople in this sector too. Students are not invited as this is intended to be a gathering for professionals. The objective is for members to get to know each other now in order to build a foundation of trust. This will accelerate the sector over the next +30 years when we are the ones doing deals with each other. A senior expert from the bioenergy sector is invited to share their insights. Some of the past special guests include Don Roberts (CIBC World Bank), Paul Austin (SDTC), Walter Cicha (NRC), Jack Saddler (UBC Faculty of Forestry). There is value in connecting with these senior experts. The Guild was originally co-founded by Jamie Stephen (Managing Director, Torchlight Bioresources Inc.) and Adam Levine (Founder, Canadian Bioenergy Corporation). Jamie moved to eastern Canada and finished his PhD. Adam left the biodiesel sector for the 'bio-ethanol for human consumption' sector and opened and operated a restaurant/music venue. Adam still consults in the bioenergy sector. If you are interested in attending a Guild meeting, please email me at stannersscott@gmail.com or search for the West Coast Bioenergy Guild on Linkedin Groups and request to join. Show less
