  The Animal Health Research Center (AHRC), located on the Campus at the University of Georgia, Athens, is a two-story concrete and masonry structure with a gross area of 73,000 square feet. Estimated at finish to be $85 million. My responsibilities included upgrades to the existing facility, with mechanical and electrical systems for a BSL3 Agriculture facility. The final facility program included single and double animal rooms and necropsy areas at USDA BSL3Ag classification, small animal rooms at CDC ABSL3 classification, research laboratories at USDA BSL3, CDC BSL3 and BSL2 classifications.   I was the MEP superintendent for a high profile contract. Perkins + Will designed lab building for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This was the first high-performance government building to achieve LEED Gold Status. Building 106 is the largest and most complex federal laboratory to receive LEED Gold in the United States. The coordination included three ATS rooms, two battery back up rooms, 10000 sq ft raised data room along with the 1st floor mechanical room and the 11th floor mechanical room. CDC 106 also housed the World Conference room used in natural disasters and epidemics. The CDC was heavy in controls and electrical coordination. Show less
