      Field research in the crater and on the seabed in collaboration with German Aerospace center, Berlin, under the supervision of scientists Dr. Frank Sohl from German Aerospace Center and Prof. Dr. Thomsen Laurenz and Prof. Dr. Vikram Unnithan from Jacobs University Bremen. ● Localized, quantified and analyzed the occurrence of carbon dioxide and its formation in the Vulcano environment.● Determined the composition of stones using spectrometers, a technique that is also used in space missions.● Collaborated with Ph.D. students and scientists from German Aerospace Center to record and analyse the recent changes of a fumarole on a Vulcano; measured and processed the heat signatures from sulfur compound fumes using a thermal infrared camera and Venus Emissivity Mapper.● Using CTD and pH meter, we analyzed recent changes in the critical parameters of Tyrrhenian Sea bay area such as salinity, temperature and pH; measured and processed the data using tools such as GIS, QGIS and constructed vertical profiles and top-view maps in ODV.● Collaborated with an MSc student from GEOMAR to analyze the recent changes and measured the pH of the beach on Vulcano Island. The resulting pH was low (acidic) due to sulfur and its bubbles. Show less
